Jake R. Barbee, President
Mr. Barbee is the 3rd generation of his family to enter into the Oil & Gas business. He is a native of Clay County, Illinois, the heart of the Illinois Basin. Jake's experience includes successful ventures in both public and private corporations across various industries, including a Senior position with a global leader in managed services and consulting with nearly 500 offices in 17 territories throughout the world. He has negotiated multi-million dollar contracts with Fortune 500 companies and has provided consultative services to rapid-growth companies in the areas of: Production Management, Venture Capital Financing & Strategic Planning. Mr. Barbee has secured strategic relationships across multiple states giving Omega Energy access to over 80,000 acres of oil and gas rich properties for future development. Mr. Barbee holds degrees in Communications and Philosophy from the University of Miami and resides in both Indiana and California with his wife Adrienne and daughter, Ella.
Robert Barbee, Director of Field Operations
Mr. Barbee is also a native of Clay County Illinois and has been directly involved in numerous drilling ventures. In 1982 Robert Barbee worked in conjunction the Harrell and King Oil Company based in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Mr. Barbee specialized in attaining investors, and during his association with this company, the mineral rights of over 1,000 acres of land were secured by the Harrell and King Oil Company that resulted in an impressive 75% completion rate on their prospects, well ahead of the Illinois Basin average. One of the leases secured during this time period was the Roberta Silva field. The Silva field proved to be quite prolific with several wells having an initial production of over one hundred barrels of oil per day. The lease was drilled in 1982 and 1983 and is currently still in production. It is approaching 1 million barrels of oil; worth over $65 Million at current market prices. Based on the information obtained by Mr. Barbee through his involvement in the Silva lease, Omega Energy commissioned an extensive Geology report resulting in the leasing of several hundred acres of land that contains the same geological signature as the Silva lease and is located less than 3 miles away.
J. Gary Peters, Director of Geology
Mr. Peters is a Certified Petroleum Geologist with over 40 years experience in petroleum geology, Prospect generation, Geologic studies Well site geology & core descriptions Drilling, completion & work over supervision. Responsible for many oil discoveries and new pays in the Illinois Basin from both clastic and carbonate reservoirs, including: Ash Iron Springs (IN), Plummer (IN), Main Consolidated (IL) - New Pay, Purcell (IN), Unnamed Field (KY) - Logan County, Kasson (IN), Cornettsville (IN), Griffin Consolidated (IN) - New Pay, Johnsonville South (IL) - New Pay. Mr. Peters holds a BS degree in Geology from University of Southern Illinois. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Indiana, Illinois & Kentucky Geological Societies and the Illinois Oil & Gas Association.
Andy Soemardi, Director of Taxation
Mr. Soemardi is a Certified Public Accountant who has over 20 years of experience in public accounting and private industry. Mr. Soemardi has worked for the international accounting firms of Ernst & Young, Price Waterhouse Coopers and KPMG. Additionally, he served as the Corporate Tax Director for Sunkist Growers up until 2004. Andy is an expert in partnership filings and he provides Omega Energy Corp. with his expertise in federal and state taxation. He has a BA in Accounting from University of California, Berkeley and a Masters of Taxation from Golden Gate University.
